GET INVOLVED AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE - Join a committee today.
At the Black Hills Home Builders Association, our committees are where ideas become action. It’s because of our committees that we can drive the missions and initiatives of our organization — connecting members, supporting our industry, and strengthening our local, state, and national communities.
Getting involved with a committee is one of the best ways to help you build relationships, grow professionally, and make a meaningful impact.
Membership and Associates Committee
Chair: Spencer Gossel, CMG Mortgage
The Membership & Associates Committee is the heartbeat of our association, with its focus on welcoming new members, engaging existing ones, and building a strong, connected association.
This group helps develop strategies for member recruitment and retention, plans membership events and socials, and ensures every member feels valued and involved. It’s also where ideas for member education and networking take shape, helping businesses grow through shared experience and collaboration.
Education, Scholarship and Workforce Committee
Chair: Casey Dolney, Bierschbach Equipment & Supply
This committee focuses on the future of our industry — our youth, our workforce, and our ongoing education. Members of this committee plan and organize educational programs, workforce development initiatives, and scholarship opportunities for students entering the trades. From school partnerships and student chapters to hands-on youth projects and training opportunities, this team is shaping tomorrow’s builders while supporting today’s professionals.
Government Affairs Committee
Chair: OPEN
The Government Affairs Committee is the voice of the home building industry at the local and state levels. This group monitors legislation, zoning issues, and regulatory changes that impact our members and the communities we serve. Government Affairs Committee Members work to keep the association informed, build relationships with local officials, and advocate for policies that protect housing affordability and responsible growth. Joining this committee means helping shape the future of housing in the Black Hills.
BUILD-PAC (Political Action Committee)
Chair: Ross Jones, Jones Construction
Our BUILD-PAC Committee ensures the voices of home builders and associates are heard where it matters most — in the policymaking process. This committee organizes fundraising events, supports pro-housing candidates at all levels of government, and educates members about the importance of political engagement. Being part of BUILD-PAC means standing up for the future of our industry and supporting leaders who champion home ownership and construction growth.
Home Show Committee
Chair: Shane Regelin, Heartland Pella
For decades, the Home Show Committee brings together businesses, builders, and the public for one of South Dakota’s largest community events. This team coordinates everything from exhibitor relations to marketing and on-site logistics, ensuring a successful and engaging show for all. Committee members play a key role in shaping the visitor experience and showcasing the strength and innovation of our local building industry.
Parade of Homes Committee
Chair: Kristi Wood, Wood Builders Inc (Co-Chair, Jeff Weidenbach, Weidenbach Brother Construction)
The Parade of Homes Committee plans and produces one of our most anticipated annual events — a showcase of craftsmanship, creativity, and collaboration. Members of this committee work closely with our members builders, sponsors, and partners to highlight the latest trends and innovations in home construction. The Parade not only promotes our members’ work but also inspires pride in our industry and excitement within the community.
Pub Crawl Committee
Chair: Darin Howie, Howie Construction
This energetic and purpose-driven committee organizes one of our largest fundraising events of the year — the BHHBA Pub Crawl. All proceeds go directly to support specifically chosen families in the Black Hills facing medical hardships. Committee members coordinate event logistics, sponsorships, and community engagement, turning a fun night out into a powerful opportunity to give back.
Golf Committee
Chair: Erin Wood, Wood Builders, Inc
The Golf Committee plans the Annual BHHBA Golf Tournament — a day of fun, networking, and community impact. Members coordinate sponsors, teams, prizes, and logistics to ensure the event is both enjoyable and successful. Beyond the fairway, this event helps raise vital funds for our programs and supports continued connection between our members.
Cares Committee
Chair: OPEN
The Cares Committee is the heart of our community outreach, bringing our mission of compassion and craftsmanship to life. This committee identifies families and local organizations in genuine need — whether that means repairing a deck for someone facing hardship, remodeling a community building, or improving local facilities.
Members of the Care Committee help plan and coordinate each project, working alongside volunteers, sponsors, and the Black Hills Home Builders Community Foundation to make every project possible. From organizing materials and donations to getting hands-on at the job site, the Cares Committee is where builders come together to make a real difference.

We know life is busy, and it can feel hard to find time to give back. But even a few hours a month can make a big difference — for your business, your community, and yourself. Whether you help plan an event, mentor a student, or lend a hand on a Care Project, your involvement strengthens the home building industry and the place we all call home. Join a committee, share your skills, and be part of something that builds more than homes — it builds community.
