Scholarship Program Information

Scholarship Graphic to promote Black Hills Home Builders Scholarship Program

The Black Hills Home Builders Association (BHHBA) awards scholarships each year to support students pursuing post-secondary education and careers connected to the building industry. This program is designed to recognize academic achievement, encourage workforce development, and invest in the future of residential construction in the Black Hills.

Each year, BHHBA may award up to $10,000 in total scholarship funds, depending on available resources. While students may pursue a variety of educational paths, preference is given to applicants whose education or career goals align with construction, skilled trades, or the home building industry.

The BHHBA Scholarship Program exists to:

  • Support students pursuing higher or continuing education

  • Encourage careers related to residential construction and the building trades

  • Strengthen the future workforce of the home building industry

  • Recognize students with academic achievement and industry connection

Applicants must:

  • Be enrolling in post-secondary education in Fall 2026

  • Submit a complete application by the deadline

  • Demonstrate academic achievement

Preference is given to applicants who:

  • Are employed by or related to a BHHBA member

  • Have participated in an NHBA-affiliated student chapter

  • Are pursuing a construction- or building-related field of study

Scholarships are limited to one award per year per recipient.

Scholarships are awarded by the BHHBA Workforce Committee using a point-based evaluation system that considers academic performance, industry involvement, and alignment with the building industry.

Award amounts typically range from $500 to $1,500, based on total points earned and available funding. Not all applicants are guaranteed an award.
